What we stand for.
Gospel as Our Motivation
We are grateful for the Gospel that brings salvation. Though we were once dead in sin, God has graciously given us new life in Christ. Thankful for God's precious gift of salvation, we want to worship Him and live a life worthy of His calling. Assured of God's love for us shown on the cross, we want to grow as disciples to serve Him and His people. Confident of Jesus' return in the future, we want to do good works and lead others to know Jesus. In the practice of our faith, the Gospel is our unchanging motivation.
Bible as Our Blueprint
We believe that the Bible is the unerring Word of God, God's revelation for His people. The Bible is the yardstick by which we live. We submit to its authority, adhering to its timeless principles that are sufficient for godly living and relevant for believers of all cultures and times. We turn to the Bible for wisdom to grow in maturity and to be completely equipped for every good work. Cultures and times may change, but we will always look to the Bible as our blueprint for how we ought to conduct our lives as God's people.
Holy Spirit as Our Power Source
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Holy Trinity and God's gift to His people. The Holy Spirit is our power source; He empowers the church to work towards God's agenda by fulfilling the Great Commission. We are continually empowered by the Holy Spirit as we work in partnership with Him and walk according to His ways. Through the Holy Spirit's power, we are able to live changed lives, break new ground, and reach people for Christ. As long as we are willing, we can always yield to the Holy Spirit and receive power for godly living and ministry.
Discipleship as Our Lifestyle
We are committed to grow as disciples of Christ in response to God's loving grace. To know and follow Christ is the lifelong journey of discipleship shared by the young and the old, the students and the working professionals, the singles and the families, no matter how long we have been in the faith. We believe in fulfilling the Great Commission by making disciples wherever we go. Disciples make new disciples. As the church, we are steadfast in our dedication to do discipleship as our lifestyle.
People as Our Passion
We believe that we as the church do not exist for our own sake and to meet our own needs. As the church, we also want to reach those who do not know Jesus so that they would come to know of His love and righteousness. We look beyond ourselves to love people despite our differences and with no strings attached. We recognise that people was the reason why Jesus came, and people is the reason why God is sending the church to be His witnesses in the world. We hold fast to the unchanging value of people as our passion.
Church as Our Family
The church is neither a building nor an event. The church is a community of believers who love and worship God together. Salvation is both a personal decision and a communal experience. After one makes a personal decision to follow Jesus, one can join the family of believers to follow Jesus together. Even in the midst of hurts and differences, we resolve to grow and mature as a family. We look out for one another's needs and enfold new members into the family. Though the world may see us as merely an organisation, we see the church as the family that God has blessed us with for all eternity.
Planting Churches as Our Calling
We believe that the Gospel message of salvation is for all people groups. Regardless of social, cultural, language or other barriers, the Gospel is to be preached to the ends of the earth. Through planting churches in Singapore and all over the world, we want to bring the Gospel to local communities, make disciples who will put their lives on the line for the Gospel, and fulfil the Great Commission. Though our methods may change, our calling to plant churches will never change.
Building Leaders as Our Culture
We are intentional to build leaders who will shepherd the people of God and guide the church to proclaim and live out the Gospel in all generations. Leaders do not emerge by chance; we seek to purposefully develop Christ-centred leaders who have the character, wisdom and strength to lead the church forward. To be a church that stands strong in the midst of persecution and challenges, we are determined to build leaders who lead by example in persevering in the faith.
What We Believe
Our statement of faith.
The Bible
We believe in every word of the Old and New Testaments as originally given, and that God inspired humans to write it without error. The Bible is the Word of God. It is the absolute truth and therefore is the standard of faith as well as the ultimate handbook for every aspect in a believer's life.
God
We believe in the one true and eternal God, the Creator of everything. God is one but exists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Though they are co-equal, coexistent and co-eternal, they play different roles in human history, working together in creation, revelation, redemption and the final judgment.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was supernaturally conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Whilst on earth, He was both perfectly God and perfectly man at the same time, and was without sin. He was crucified on the cross and physically rose from the dead on the third day to fulfil the will of the Father to provide salvation from sin to those who believe in Him. He ascended physically to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. One day in the future, He will come again to establish His kingdom.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God who convicts people of sin and leads them to repent of their sin and place their faith in Jesus for salvation. He dwells within believers to enable them to lead holy lives and obey God's will. We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible remain in the Church today and should be fully exercised to build up the Body of Christ. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, an experience distinct from repentance and faith in Jesus for salvation, enables Christians to testify of Christ in the power of the Spirit. Speaking in tongues is the normal initial sign of being baptised in the Holy Spirit. In the Christian life, every believer must live in obedience to Christ and be under the covering of the Holy Spirit. Christians should always be filled with the Spirit.
Angels, Satan, and God's Plan
We believe God created angelic beings for His service. They are supernatural but not divine. The Bible teaches that Satan, together with the many angels that follow him, are evil, supernatural, angelic beings and that there is a spiritual kingdom on earth under Satan's authority opposed to God and His plan. Satan's kingdom is at war with God's kingdom. The death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross defeated Satan and enables all men and women who put their trust in Jesus to join God's kingdom. The Church has been commissioned to rescue men and women from Satan's kingdom to God's, a task which will conclude when Jesus returns. God will ultimately triumph when Satan's rule is terminated and his kingdom destroyed.
Man
We believe that God created man in His likeness and without sin but they sinned wilfully. As a consequence, sin entered the world and all mankind has inherited a sinful nature. Since everyone has fallen short of God's standard because of sin and is subject to God's wrath and condemnation, they all need His salvation which is made possible through the death of Jesus Christ; otherwise they will be judged and punished eternally in hell.
Salvation
We believe that we can be saved from God's wrath when we confess and repent from sin and place our trust in Jesus Christ. Salvation is given by the grace of God only on the basis of Jesus' sacrifice for sin when He died on the cross and cannot be achieved by a person's own works. At the point of salvation, an individual becomes a new creation in Christ. Through obedience and faith a Christian is gradually transformed to become more like Jesus.
The Church
We believe that the church is the community of God's people and central to God's plan of salvation. Once we become Christians, we are adopted into God's family and become part of the Universal Church, made up of Christians of every age. Local churches are made up of believers who regularly meet together in different localities to worship, listen to the Word of God, fellowship, witness, participate in communion, pray and have other activities together. We believe that every Christian should be committed to a local church.
Eternal Judgment
We believe that the dead will be raised and everyone will have to give account before God. All those who have put their faith in God will receive their reward and live eternally with God in heaven. On the Day of Judgment the remainder will be judged and receive eternal punishment in hell.
Baptism and Communion
We believe that all Christians should be water baptised in obedience to Jesus' command and as a public testimony of their commitment to follow Him. Water baptism is the immersion of a person completely in water as a symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Communion is for Christians to remember Jesus by partaking of bread and wine as symbols of the flesh and blood of Jesus and the covenant God has made to bring salvation through faith in Christ. It is practiced in obedience to the command of Jesus and can be celebrated as often as believers gather together until Jesus returns.
Worship
We believe that Christians must worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. Worship is acknowledging the worthiness of God and opening our hearts to relate to Him. Worshipping according to Biblical patterns allows us to use outward expression to come close to God. Some of these expressions of worship include worshipping with other Christians, using musical instruments, singing and exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Healing
We believe it is normally God's will for all mankind to be whole and healthy both physically and spiritually. The Church is vested with the authority of Jesus Christ to bring a ministry of healing in every possible way that is both through the power of God and through medical knowledge and expertise as part of the manifestation of the love of God for all mankind which God desires to bring through His church.
